FAQs

How long will I have to wait for my bespoke corset?

The corsets that we make are made lovingly handmade in our North Yorkshire workshop, the Atelier, using only the best corsetry materials. Depending on how complicated or advanced the style of your bespoke corset will determine the time it takes to make. Short underbust corsets, known as a waspie can be completed in 1 and a half weeks if you provide your measurements the same day as you pay your deposit, whereas a cupped overbust corset that sits long and low on the hips can take up to 6 to 8 weeks to perfect. If you are ever unsure on a timeframe or need it in a pinch (say, an upcoming birthday in 3 weeks) then please discuss this with Mollie in the consultation process.

What will happen after I submit my design I made in the Atelier/ corset maker tool?

You will instantly receive an email containing your design, quote and deposit amount and Mollie (Head Designer and Brand Corsetmaker) will also receive a copy of that email. Looking at your design, she'll check the quote, find you a time slot in the workshop and make a digital mock up of the design. This will have the fabrics and fastenings you've chosen present on the corset shape you've picked as well as a view of the back. If you've chosen more than one outer fashion fabric she'll come up with some variations of colour combinations. You can also write 'x colour for the cups' for example in the notes box before submitting. She'll send you the digital mock up for you to check and when you're happy with it Mollie will send you an invoice for the deposit. Once paid she'll get making!

What is a lingerie pouch?

These are fabric bags made from satin or silk often used in the 1920s/ 30s to store lingerie in one’s drawers. It keeps your intimates fresh and in tip top condition. When you are buying special underwear, care like this will keep it in good condition which is great for you and far more sustainable than a throwaway gift box. What is your inspiration?

A hard one that, but I am always inspired by timeless glamour, our love for one another and real craftsmanship.

What about sustainability?

Every effort has been made to use reusable or recyclable packaging and our printing is done with reputable green printers. The bulk of our fabrics and trims are reclaimed from waste streams of the intimate apparel industry in which perfectly good fabrics for making lingerie would have gone to landfill had they not been found by us. Our Boselli satin is imported from Italy but we buy it wholesale from a supplier who orders it for the whole country. The patterned silks and satins in our exclusive collections are recycled from truly vintage kimonos, never to be repeated! When making up garments we do everything to order so we never have a stock room in the back full of things we cannot sell. I hate to see samples go to waste so prototypes are made for the model in mind to take home. All our Atelier waste is sorted and recycled, and leftover fabrics are used for the next collection’s toiles. We are always on the look out for making the business and the brand even greener, from recyclable lace to reusing perfectly good patterns from last season. If I had my way, there would be solar panels on the roof of the Atelier!
